About Luis

Born in Havana, Cuba and raised in New York City, Luis Roldan worked as the president and general manager of Telemundo Orlando/WTMO-TV based in Miami, Florida. Luis is a business and broadcasting professional with over 25 years of experience in broadcasting management, sales, and marketing. Over the years, Luis has been recognized for his exceptional organization and partnership building skills and has held a variety of positions within the broadcasting industry, starting from the bottom and building his career over time. 

Luis Roldan earned his education from Fordham University, Gabelli School of Business, located in the Bronx. He graduated in 1982 with a B.S in Marketing from their college of business administration and quickly went on to become an account executive at the Telemundo Network, an American Spanish-language television network. During his 4 years in this role, Luis sold advertising time on the network, spot, and local levels. After gaining some experience, Luis was able to earn an account executive position at WNBC-TV/New York, an NBC O&O Station. This position allowed him to achieve 21 million dollars in billings, and Luis had a heavy emphasis on Prime-Time and sports programming during his time there.

In 1988, Luis Roldan earned a vice president and Station Manager role for Telemundo New York/WNJU TV, which is a division of Sony Entertainment. He did this until 1996 when he was promoted to Senior Vice President and General Manager, which allowed him to successfully launch the 11 pm news and negotiate landmark deals for Spanish local broadcast with popular New York sports teams The Yankees, Mets, and Knicks.

Due to his successes at Telemundo New York, Luis Roldan was able to earn himself the President and General manager of Telemundo PR/WKAQ-TV in 1988. This station was owned and operated by NBC and Luis was put in charge of 275 technical, administrative, and sales personnel as well as an additional 100 freelancers. During his time in this position, Luis was apple to attain executive band status with parent company GE and eventually went on to secure the 2004 & 2008 Olympic games broadcast for the station. Luis Roldan held this position until 2006, going on to serve various roles within the broadcasting industry for the next 12 years before earning his latest position as President and General Manager of Telemundo Orlando. 

Since becoming president and general manager back in 2018, Luis had been able to launch midday and weekend news as well as helicopter and skycam coverage for Telemundo, as well as acquire the rights to the Gubernatorial Debate that occurred in 2018. Luis also led the company to the #2 market position in late-night news while exceeding OCD and revenue targets. This success allowed Luis to expand the size of the station as well as launch a Consumer Investigation Unit.

Outside of his job, Luis Roldan is a family man. He is a father of 2 young boys, and he tries to stay actively involved in their lives, specifically by getting involved in their school and sports.
